Pre-Orders & Backorders

We classify our orders in 4 ways, in-stock, special order, pre-order, and backorder. This page will provide information on the differences between pre-orders and backorders. For information on special orders, click here

Pre-Orders

Pre-orders are going to be items that we currently already have on order or are expected to be placed on order shortly (we have minimums, so we may be trying to meet that minimum).

Occasionally we will offer pre-orders on items that we are ordering directly from the factory overseas, or ordering custom through the supplier. This will have a significantly longer lead-time than other pre-order items.

To put it simply, pre-orders are items that we are expecting to arrive to us soon.

Why do we need to offer pre-orders? Well, we run out of items. We do our best to predict how much we need but sometimes we miscalculate or have a burst of orders that deplete our stock. Pre-orders allow us to continue making sales to you, instead of you just seeing an out of stock message.

Backorders

Backorders are what nobody wants to hear. We classify items as backordered when none of our suppliers has that particular hat in-stock. Backorders may have an expected ETA on when we will receive them, but nothing is definite.

Currently Richardson is having problems keeping popular colors in-stock. Whether its due to high sales volume, or supply chain issues we don't know. But if you really want a particular color then backorder would be the best option for you.

Backordered items will ship out first to the customers who have been waiting. Backordered items can be swapped with an in-stock or pre-order item at anytime.

To put it simply, backordered items are items we are not expecting soon, and do not know exactly when we will be receiving them.
